Let’s start with the basics of reading these things. Any area big enough to be considered its own space gets its own symbol. A doorway or other way to get between spaces is drawn as a line between symbols I had a whole explanation here beyond this, but then I realized it would go so much easier if you could just see what I'm talking about. So have a chart and some simple examples:
The deeper within a building, the more private the room. The more “ringy” the plan, the more open the building. The more “branchy” the plan, the more closed off each individual room is. The longer and less connected the branches are, the more divided by status the space is likely to be. Here are some examples of access analysis used in academic work:
